Flood 2018

IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE FOR CLEAN-UP OF YOUR HOME DUE TO FLOODING, CALL SAMARITAN’S PURSE AT 1-844-547-2663 FOR FREE ASSISTANCE.

How Can You Help?
Samaritan’s Purse is organizing teams of volunteers to help flood victims salvage and clean up their homes. They provide all tools and safety equipment and a lunch. You should wear closed toed shoes or safety boots.

You can register to be a volunteer by calling 1-844-547-2663.
At that number you tell them what day or days you are available to help. They will operate 6 days a week (they don’t do work on Sunday). Pastor Chad am encouraging those who can to join him for a workday this coming Wednesday, May 16.

Who Can Volunteer?
We’re encouraging everyone to volunteer. Beyond physical demolition and clean up, there are jobs that can be a great help to a team, from helping take garbage bags to the road, or helping a homeowner clean soiled dishes. Don’t let you age or ability hold you back. If you are 16 or under, you do have to come with a parent or guardian.

If you are presently working, you could ask your supervisor if there are programs that allow you to take a paid day to volunteer in the community. We have heard there is a program like that for New Brunswick Civil Servants.

What Does a Day Look Like?
On a typical day, volunteers will meet at 7:45 AM at their command post, right now at Journey Wesleyan Church (131 Duncan Lane, Fredericton). You then receive a safety briefing, pack a lunch (provided), and go with a team to help a flood victim at their home for the day, with work being done and tools returned to the command post around 4:30 PM. You can learn more about Samaritan’s Purse’s response here.

Another way you can help now is to make a donation to our Care Ministry.

The Care Ministry funds are what we use when providing help to people in times of crisis. We already have received requests for help and expect more to come in the coming weeks.

To donate to the Care Ministry you can use the button below, mark ‘Care’ on an offering envelope when giving at the church, or use the giving code 9999CAREM.
