Caring for people in need is deeply ingrained in the vision and values of Smythe Street Cathedral. The scripture teaches us that if we see someone in need and have the capacity to help, but fail to do so, we are also failing to show the love of God. (1st John 3:17)
We show the love of God to others by helping meet their practical needs. With that in mind, we are always to seeking to direct our resources as a church family, collectively and individually, towards the needs in our city. People who find themselves homeless, marginalized and/or held in the grip of poverty can find compassionate hearts here at our church.
In practical terms, we normally focus on providing food assistance to those in need. We also collect items in our foyer for the local food bank on the first Sunday of every month.
