Our Governance
We have two teams of people who oversee the activities and ministries we undertake as a church: the Elders and the Board of Trustees.
EldersThe Elders are responsible for the spiritual direction and oversight of our church, including matters of doctrine, our Statement of Faith, and church order. They are responsible to spiritually protect and shepherd our members, oversee conflict resolution in the church, and to the sacraments. With the Senior Pastor, they also steward our core values, vision and mission. |

Board of TrusteesThe Board of Trustees is a group of people, elected from the church membership, who are responsible for the legal and financial oversight of Smythe Street Cathedral. They work together to ensure that we are good stewards of the resources we have been entrusted with, and ensure that we are legally sound in our financial reporting and ministry practices. |
MEMBERSHIP
We’re glad that you’re considering becoming a member of Smythe Street Cathedral. Membership is a commitment we make to each other, as believers in Jesus, to work together as a team in support of the vision and call God has given us as a local church.
The information available on this page will briefly introduce you to our beliefs, our church and the responsibilities we hold to as members.
This is what you need to do to apply for membership:
- Read the information in our Introduction to Membership Document (available here as a PDF).
- Attend a Membership Orientation session. If you have submitted a registration form online, we will inform you when a session is upcoming. The orientation is an opportunity to learn more about membership, our church, and our vision. There is also an opportunity to address your questions.
- At the Membership Orientation there is an opportunity to confirm your desire to become a member.
At this point your application is submitted to the church leadership for final approval.
We hope that you decide to join us as we aim to follow Jesus together.
